Christmas Westie Dog in Cool Holiday Colors

Christmas colors in cool tones. While I was weeding amongst august moon (lime green) hostas and african hibiscus (red/plum) the other day I marveled at the colors. It was Christmas colors in warm tones and 98 degree weather. I came in and used those colors in this painting but in totally cool tones. You don't see any yellows in westie, just cool shadows. Red colors can either be warm reds or cool reds. We gardeners work with colors all of the time. Sometimes to amazing achievements and other times a few disappointments, but we learn from each combination we try. Too much fertilizer can almost change a flower color from warm to cool or vice versa. Amazing. (Really gardening is the hardest art of all.)

Westie's other eye is hid from view because of the lush hair and head turned just so. Plus all westies love to roll around and fluff up their facial hair to the max!

We love to dress westies in red for the holidays. The great part about red is it's for both boys and girl westies dogs. And it stands for L_O_V_E.

For sale on ebay titled, HAPPY IN RED.

Frida Kahlo Sisters Folk Art Painting

Love is easier painted than told unless you are a writer. This painting is titled, "Let's Paint" as Frida wants to paint her sister's portrait... And kitties want their portraits painted too. All kitties love chairs because they know eventually you will want to sit down and they can sit on your lap. They are wise. Their little purring motors get louder when we are around. My own sister and I both love cats.

Original painting for sale on ebay.

I need blinders - Garden distractions

I need blinders just like these horses have so that I can make a straight shot when I go outside. I start out for something and then get distracted by all the plants unfurling around me. Soon I am down on my hands and knees looking at nature's intricate beauties.

Look at the dewdrops on our ladies mantle leaves. It's a wonder any of these are clear because once I get down on my knees the cat starts biting my toe (for fun, mind you) or licking my fingers.

These dew diamonds are little miracles. All these hidden jewels to be discovered today. Did you know that dew will not form if it's windy? The moisture in the air will be fog instead. Nature is amazing.

The silver mound is so ferny you just have to run your hand over it and tussel it a bit.

The peonies are loaded with buds and the ants are rushing around snacking on the sap.

Look at the texture of the leaves and stems of the rhododendren.

I round the bend and the flowering quince wakes you up with it's splash of red and a jolt of sunshine. This ornamental shrub is about the size of an outdoor building. The bright light reminds me why I went outside again. I went out to check on the lambs and to take a short break from painting. It also reminds me to adding weeding to my list of things to do.
I'm loving the paintings I'm working on! Check back.

Peony Seedlings Grown Outdoors

While walking along the side of our house in the grass I noticed some miniature burgundy red leaves splashed here and there in the green gass along the borders. I let these single pink peonies go to seed in the summer and then come looking for the seedlings early spring. I do collect some seeds, too, but, they are still in a package unplanted. Nature does a fabulous job sprouting your seeds all by itself while we keep warm inside.

I had to go back to the shed and get a shovel to collect the "gold" that I had found. Go deep about 5-inches under the seedlings. The seedlings are only about 2-inches tall now. I premixed some plastic pots (recycled) with compost and loamy soil and sat the whole shovelful on top adding more soil around the edges. These little seedlings don't like to sit in water so I just drizzled a little on sparingly to settle the soil.
You might remember that I mentioned about dreaming of having fields of peonies. Dreams do not fall in your lap. You have to work toward them and I am at least 20 plants closer to that dream.

Frida Kahlo's Wedding Cake Painting

Frida is funny and clever even at her own wedding. She is the real bride cake topper after she jumps out of her own very large wedding cake! Diego is not to worry as he will get some delicious cake and chocolates, too. Chocolate is so wonderful; isn't it?

There are so many different flavors of wedding cakes these days. All the wedding magazines beg to be looked through now as you wait in line at grocery stores, book stores, most anywhere near registers. They are always fun to look at even if there isn't a wedding planned...the decorations, the cakes, the drop dead gorgeous flowers......I like to look at the gardens where the weddings are held.

Frida and her cake's painting is for sale
here.

ACEO Frida Kahlo Rabbit Mexican folk Art Painting

Aceo originals give alot of splash for a smaller amount of money than a larger original painting! They can be just as cute as 5 x 7's and 8 x10's! Who would want to hide these small treasures
away in an album? I think one of the best ways to display them is to attach an aceo to a mat board and then slip it into a frame. Stunning.

I like the pumpkin spice color of this mat. It may not be everyone's choice, but it is a nice contrast to the pink and gold colors. The gray kitty and white bunnies go with all colors!~

Aceo stands for Art Cards Editions and Originals all measuring 2.5 by 3.5-inches.

Frida's Bunnies aceo for sale now on ebay now.

SHABBY CHIC Frida Kahlo Valentine Hearts Painting

My new Frida painting has those soft colors in it that we love Shabby Chic for. Especially the Shabby Chic sheets...the tiniest little soft pink roses sprinkled generously about on the white clouds of cotton. If you look closely Frida's bodice has some of those roses on it. Handpainted.

The pink heart swing is like a dream...who would want to sit on the dull black and gray ones when you can sit swing on this one for the romantics. Frida has yummy chocolate valentines, a red, rich-fragrant rose in her hair, fresh air whistling by her cheeks and a bluebird perched on her toe! That is love!

This cute heart painting is up for grabs on ebay today. And I think I have had chocolate myself every day for the last week which was around for grabs. That just comes from painting valentines and standing in lines at stores and of course, I love it.

Halloween Spiderman Hat Westie Dog

Spiders on halloween help you see in the dark. Our westie doesn't need any help seeing, but the huge spider was a little scary. He was a real trooper and didn't mind wearing this for a short time. I did give him a pinch of peanut butter as a treat.

Elsewhere around town First Lady Michelle was dressed as a catwoman. And the first dog? Was he dressed up?
