Love is Sweet...Food Illustration

Illustrating with food is a ball.

An apple ball.

Love is sweet

and tart.

Red Delicious

(so accurately named)

and Granny Smith

(which I will call Grand Smith)

is the perfect definition of true love

on this Valentine's Day.

The other feeling I wanted to portray

was that we carry our love around

with us in our heart

wherever we go.

Red and green have always been

beautiful color combinations.

I hope everyone is having a sweet

~Valentine's Day~

Remember the saying

a way to a man's heart

is through his stomach?

My husband is getting

alot of artistic, healthy food.

Valentine Tokens of Affection

Sweet Valentine candy hearts.

How lovely to arrange a heart on each spoon.

A little extra pretty at the table.

They have a vintage Victorian look.

Drop a candied heart into your tea cup!

Snow White, Rapunzel and Cinderella Fairytale Daily Painting

Spring with it's warm freshness is visiting and in my mind as I painted this with a light and airy feel. I held back on most all of my black, but a little. When I went outside to check on the sheep this morning the deer ran across the field, the birds sang, Canada geese flew overhead, and I thought, "It's a lovely day!" Soon the geese will be making nests by the creek. Fawns will be hiding by the creek, too, in dappled light. I felt like a woodland princess even though I had on a big down jacket, rubber boots and my hair was a bit of a mess! We girls are all a princess at heart.

Colors are soft and play off against the smokey, blue-green background. I put in a pinch of the color red to catch your attention, Snow White holds a red heart instead of an apple and has the tiniest red bows in her hair. You might notice our fluffy white, westie dog made it into the painting, too, by my signature sitting on Cinderella's foot.

This original painting is for sale one ebay.

My Friend Hedgehog Who loves Heart Cookies

Are you ready for spring? Bring in Spring. Ring in Spring. Fling in Spring. After a week of being under the weather and snowed in I close my eyes and see all the little spring blossoms looking at their wristwatches wondering, "Is it time yet?"
My new little painting has only a pinch of white in it because everywhere we look it's white. (Come hot summer we use lots of white paint, can't paint cool enough colors.) Our little hedgehog friend's name is Ava. She is a cutie and a great pastry chef! When she takes a walk in the woods everyone comes out of hiding to get a taste of her baked confections.
I used browned colors to make this look a little vintage. The original painting is up for sale on ebay and you can find a print on etsy.

Valentine's Day Cupid Mexican Folk Art

Gardening is on my mind more and more these days as the seed and plant catalogs are avalanched to our door by the postman. Then Valentine's day has such a romantic pull to it. All you need is love...and a rascal cat. I added a cat mouse toy with little red hearts on it plus the hugs and kisses on Frida's blouse. Topiary heart plants and love. And they are evergreen which means love lasts through all seasons. No one can miss all of the symbols of love I reckon. Fun ones at that.

But better yet Frida is Cupid and with the help of her black cat she is going to plant lots of seeds of love in everyone's hearts. I think the colors show that Frida is very serious about being Cupid. Link to Painting.

Love is Heart Cupcakes- Daily painting Valentines

Our cat used to have the midnight crazies and now it just wants to steal our whipped confections. Thus came about this 5 x 10-inch painting titled "Heart Stealer." Don't let the cute heart glasses fool you. Kitty is cute though. Kitty only has eyes for cupcakes...paws are going to make them hers. The bluebirds wait for the crumbs.

I seem to zig zag back and forth from day to day from soft colors to bright, rich saturated colors. I tried to add a few light notes to the rich ones...such as the light pink dress and the light green shirt. I do love the rich red, orange and pink color combinations in the garden and in art on canvas. Even textiles. Think merrimekko.

Up for sale on ebay.
