Westie Pet Portrait and Boy ACEO painting - Summer Woohoo

JUMP FOR SUMMER

Summer is leaping and running with your westie dog. Sir Salty needs a trim as he looks a bit like a beardie or sheepdog (okay, a miniature one). He is always a flutter of activity and runs with his nose high in the air when he is racing us.

I guess he knows he is going to win and he rarely, if ever, looks back.

But if we sit down he always races back to check on us. Like he thinks he will find a bundle of treats that have fell out of our pockets. I think it's because the only time we really sit on the grass is when we are having a picnic or playing with him.

Aceo original painting is available on etsy.

Motivational Mixed Media Canvas Art

PAPER ROCKET

It's a journey. It's a dream. It's a bit of a stretch maybe...but set your goal and aim for it!

What is propelling Clara's rocket here are the words, "Long range goal."

In archery class we didn't give up if we didn't hit the bull's eye. We tried again the next day at class. Set clear goals and aim, aim, aim.

It would be hard to hit the bull's eye if you didn't have arrows. What are the tools you need to succeed? What are the tools I need to succeed? Some tools are in our nature. Compassion and understanding if you are a caregiver or doctor. An artist needs an imagination, often we paint from memory or how we think it should look. Maybe you feel you can't draw but you have a great imagination with words and can string them together in the most unusual way. (This is definitely not me with words.) Everyone has their own natural talent waiting to be discovered.

I used a mixture of papers, paint and canvas for this collage to remind myself to aim high like Clara and spread the love like she is doing with hearts.

Mixed Media Valentine Frog Girl Mushroom Art

Caps come in all sizes, shapes and colors, but these two wear the cutest caps of all. Mr. Frog has an acorn cap. You have to love the rich burnished color of acorns and they are so little, yet a mighty tree is tucked away inside. Which is exactly like Mr. Frog, small but has a mighty jump. The girl has a mushroom cap hat to shade her lovely face. She will be wise in her old age, but never weathered because of her hat. You see that is where her and myself will part camps. I will go to the weathered one and she will stay in the cute one because I love to be outside gardening.

These two share a love for caps but today they are going to share their love for chocolates, that is what best friends do, with a valentine box! This original mixed media/altered art painting is for sale on etsy today. More information here.

I've got some exciting/nerve racking news. It's rather like falling in love. You're excited and yet the butterflies are fluttering in your stomach making you feel sick. Flat on your back one minute and jumping for joy the next, saying, "How can I do this?" More soon.

All White Decorating or Gray White or....?

Just when I convinced myself to have everything totally white in one room I'm rethinking it. All it took was a visit to restoration hardware online to buy some glass drawer knobs. I'm calling this color taupe, beige, gray and well, awesome. Really it's the color flax and linen. The color of stone and sand. So natural.

These two "bookshelves" that are filled with china are around $6,000. each. They are new for sale, of course, with an antique finish and lots of appliques on the top. Altogether lovely. While our westie dog dreams of squirrels I will be dreaming about how to make some of these timbered showcases. Maybe I could manage a mini one for a doll!

Shabby Chic White Westie Painting

My westie dog has his own family of toy ducks. One larger mommy and two smaller babies that all squeak when carried around. Sir Salty guards this family closely. They are more than toys to him. He is their guardian.

I've been trying to lighten my colors this week in my oils. Lately I've come across so many beautiful chippy white and shabby white room photographs that it makes me ache for them. I want to rent a spray gun and spray everything white in one room here. That notion is quickly struck down by the (few) wiser cells in my brain. "Do it properly," the wiser cells whisper. I have some white things, yes, but not a complete white room yet.

With this ideal room in my head I have painted some new small aceo paintings that I think would look good in a shabby, white decorated room.

You are looking at one such painting above. It's titled "MORE THAN TOYS." More about it here.

West Highland White Terrier Dog Westie Art Painting

"THE HAPPY ONE"

Westie Art comes from my westie and my heart combined. I try to get that westie personality which is the breed's top trait, I think. Every time I lean down towards puppy he meets me halfway with a kiss. So when I look down at him this is the look I always see. In this painting Westie has on a dandelion head lei-wreath. He doesn't have a problem with it because he's soooo happy to be with me.

The colors are light and the lighting was such that the light, shadows and reflections all collided and it made a beautiful sight to paint. The painting is a great collectible size 4 x 4-inches that can be displayed about anywhere to spread a little happiness.

Bid here.

Westie Painting Dogs Vintage Roadster Car

My westie has gotten behind the wheel here with a friend. Close friend. In fact the title of this new painting is JUST KISSED. I leave it up to the viewer to determine who stole the kiss...her or him. I combined a few loves in this painting ...classic gardens, westies, vintage cars, topiary, and painting! I like restored old cars brought back to their original glory.

I combined my folky style in my oils...a first for me as normally I only do folk in acrylics and small canvases. There is a first for everything and now I know there will be a second, too! ;-)

This painting makes a large impression on the viewer. It's size is 40 inches by 30 inches and on a deep gallery wrapped canvas. The colors I made to look vintage so that the westies are the most brilliant part of the painting. All kinds of wonderful warms and cools in their beautiful white coats. Can you see the storm brewing in the background just like passion?
