Alice in Wonderland Art

Every day we choose a path to take. Often we cross paths with others which are not confrontational, but a new acquaintance is made. We are so happy for those we meet that open up new ideas and cultures. It adds a little more wonder to our world.

A sweet aceo painting a day is one of my new challenges. When I put myself to a commitment it cultivates the mind like a farmer who tills the soil. I am surprised what is in my mind and heart and how the art and ideas shoot forth like a fresh spring. So much is hidden away in each heart waiting to grow! When I get a pencil and start sketching it frees me and lets me dream as well. And sketching is an art form we can do anywhere. As the weather cools outside, my drawing table inside is filled with sunshine.

The Little Details

These new khaki raincoats for little girls are from Land's End. I just love the little ruffles along the bottom.

Ruffles are in on everything.

Big ruffles.

Little ruffles.

Ruffles are beautiful.

Just as long as we don't get, "ruffled up." That is not beautiful.

I've finished a few more aceo watercolors. This one is titled "Watering Hope".

Some things just take time to bloom.

We have to be patient.

We have to nurture it and protect it.

Anthropologie Dress- Merry Christmas

Sir Salty is a good egg collector, but doesn't always want give up the eggs. A little snow on the ground and an anthropologie dress make the day even merrier! How many eggs did you use for your holiday treats and Christmas day breakfast? My daughter made the best breakfast this morning. Cream brulee french toast......lots of eggs and heavy cream, oh my, but they were delicious.

So many beautiful flowers to choose from for the holidays. This bouquet had asian lilies, peruvian lilies and mums. Loved the color combination.

Really the best part of Christmas is being with your family and counting your blessings. I have many to count. Thank you bloggers for stopping in to visit and for all of your lovely blogs as well. I see and read many beautiful things daily that touch my heart. May your holidays be warm, cheery and filled with family.

Merry Christmas from my family to yours,
Candylei and Sir Salty

Frida Kahlo Black Boot Club Art

Frida always wore black boots and found some other friends who did too. These red foxes became friends and started the Black Boot Dance Club. Look around you for your friends. When you were little didn't you and your brothers and sisters or some neighbor kids have a few clubs going? The Make it Yourself Club, the Stitching Club, and I forget some of the other ones. It didn't matter if it was 4 members or 2 members it was still fun!

I painted this one with the fall colors around me. I've noticed that even on cloudy days the fields are still radiant color like they are glowing from within!

Black Boots Club is up on ebay for sale with free shipping in the us. Details here.

Frida Kahlo Burning Heart Folk Art

"Love Leads the Way"

Love is like a flaming light that shows us the way when we are uncertain. Frida is always beautiful with her flowers and cat. How does she manage to always look great? This is the second large painting I'm offering of Frida Kahlo. It's an inspirational one that would look great in your office or home. Kitty with paws curled in front looks like he/she is praying. I think that every time I see our cats with their paws folded just so. The painting measures a large 16 x 20 inches and makes a colorful statement.

I looked at lots of sedum plants (Autumn Joy and others) today and if you are familiar with them they are a beautiful blue and green depending on the lighting. They are about the same colors as agave plants. This is the color I carried around today even into this painting.
Up for sale on ebay with a low start price for a large painting.

Frida Kahlo and Hummingbirds Nest Painting

This is a painting I finished of Frida holding a hummingbird on a nest and it's up for sale on ebay. It could be yours. It's titled "Look Up" because you don't want to get all tangled up in your own troubles. Look up for help...look up for opportunities they are all around you. Look up for the beauty that sings a song of thankfulness.

I've had a bit of a go this past week and a half. My ear, head, sinus...earlier I lost most of the hearing in one ear just suddenly. It hurts from pressure and I was feeling a bit down til my son brought home from school something about Helen Keller. I have no excuse to mope. Thus you can see how the title of this painting came about.

Hummingbirds are the busiest little birds. They love sweet nectar from flowers and also tiny little insects like gnats. Those little tiny gnats that we detest during the summer because they buzz around your face and are bothersome because you tend to inhale them. I read that they find a feast in a spider's web. They eat the little bugs caught in it and then the spider and then they steal the spider web and use it as nesting material. Imagine a spider's web thread to hold your nest together? The shimmer from the sun and the moonlight....and then when the dew leaves it's pearls strung on it...it must be beautiful.
