Seashells Treasure Box - Vegetable Plants

My counter looks like a potting table.

A look I like very much.

The amaryllis was replaced with hyacinths.

This handmade sea shell treasure box

turns into a pot of sorts holding lettuce.

One of my new favorite sedums,

a beautiful chartruese color and

has the tiniest leaves!

It's called the

Small Leaf Gold Sedum.

I love shells.

Maybe you have a keepsake box

that you could put some life into.

You've probably guessed this

was from a thrift shop.

Two dollars and fifty cents,

but it looks like a million to me

cradling these baby letuce plants.

One of my tiniest bird nests

rests here, too.

How many more baby plants
can I put here?

Sweet scent of hyacinths

perfumes the air.

We will wonder what happens when

the weather goes back to normal

March weather?

I'm off to wander around
and find more plant pot holders!

Burlap and Flowers

We had a nice weekend with family.

Some we don't see often enough.

The weather is still warm and hits 70.

Burlap has a wonderful texture to it.

I love laying flowers on it.

Big daffodils and cluster daffodils.

They are so pretty.

I just picked a few for a nosegay.

The sewing machine sets idle,

but the burlap is being used.

Succulents and Warm Weather

The weather has been fabulous here. Unusual for March. Today it hit 78! It's hard to stay inside when it seems like we have been inside all winter. Plus the time change gives us extra time in the evening to be outside. Check out the succulents. The colors are super!

We've had the lawnmower going, the rototiller going and the hedge trimmer! This is the time of year when everyone walks around with a big smile on their face! (I mean don't we always?)

Beautiful Breakfasts

This breakfast was like eating dessert. So early in the morning I felt guilty. Truth be told it is thick creamy-vanilla, greek yogurt with fresh strawberries and honey drizzled on top. Delicious. I made this the last two mornings and it is heavenly and only cost about 75 cents. It's very easy on the eyes if you are not a morning person. Gone are the days where we raced around the kitchen counter and grabbed a banana or just a cup of coffee and dashed out the door. I always seemed to spill the coffee somewhere on myself. Before I even got to work. Trying to consume food when the stress meter is bouncing off of the top of the meter every time we look at the clock is not good. Drinking coffee in stop and go traffic is not good. I am still in a rush in the 'moronings (my word for frantic mornings) but I just eat breakfast later after the rush, but still before lunch!

Modern Westie Art Quilt-Digital

I used to quilt. It was a challenge to cut up little pieces of fabric and match the points perfectly. It's a bit crazy taking a perfect length of cloth and cutting it into diamonds, triangles, squares and then sew it back together to one cloth with a different design. Tonight I only have a few minutes to play pretend quilting digitally! The options are endless. Wheeee! I say Wheeee now, but if I had to sew all of these crazy quilt style pieces together I would soon be bleary-eyed.

You can do it yourself as well. Here's the how to. I took a picture of one of my oil paintings from 2010 and went to photoshop. Went to click on "filter" and on the drop down menu, click on "pixelate" and then on over to "crystalize." This makes me want to go to the fabric store and buy 1/4 yard of all of the solid cotton colors! Isn't this fun?

I played with the color saturation here. Looks very pop and very modern art. (Also looks like my westie turned into a chow dog.) Sir Salty who posed for the original painting below, spans all types of art. Mostly moving, racing art. He's a great fellow. He is always doing the happy dance which is contagious.

I think I am going to get the sewing machine out. After our westie boy goes to bed!

Shabby Roses Pink Dreams Digital Art

We've had a great weekend with family. Cooking and more cooking. Taking pictures. I did a little planting outside with some peony roots that I had and didn't want them to die before they got in the ground. The color of the peonies? PINK.

I've always wanted to play with my photographs and make them more artistic. Tonight I took an old photograph of my silver vases with white roses and merged it with a photograph of my vintage silver platter for texture. Instant charm. These were merged on photoshop and then I went to the channel mixer and made the colors more red and I couldn't believe how dreamy the photo looks now. Digital art. I think I am hooked! It's faded, pink and textured...plus it's of roses. It's a win win!

Pink Rose and Flower Petals

Pink is still fresh here. This rose I took to photographing.

It looks so lovely.

As I moved it around on the vintage silver platter the

most amazing coincidence happened.

I saw it's gorgeous inner reflection on the silver rim.

The learning process is beautiful too.

I should list the new things I learn everyday.

I wanted to toss these fragrant petals into the bath.

Who has time for leisurely baths?

Their aromatherapy on my fingers was enough for me today.

We are scattering petals about like sugar and spice.

It is quite nice!

This vintage silver spoon's design is elaborate.

Little details speak directly to the heart through the eye.

Fragrance speaks to the heart when you inhale it.

To be alert to these things...

The calm it brings to a busy life.

Pretty soon we will have peonies the same soft sweet pink color!

I will have to look for a silver ladle

to photograph the pom pom's with.
