Indoor Moss Garden

I like living plants on my table. Maybe it's from bringing tender plants in for winter for years? Moss is so tiny and yet speaks of huge woodland floors and mountain rocks. Those things I can't bring inside so I bring in what represents it ... in miniature.

My little Christmas cactus needed dividing and I put one in a fruit or dessert pedestal goblet. A mound of potting soil on top (make it high like one scoop of ice cream) and the moss was cut in a circle, then cut to the center so I could wrap it around the plant like you would wrap a Christmas tree skirt around a tree.





Wouldn't these be cute on every placesetting? You can see the little fir tree needles lying in the moss. All these little details I think are charming. The dessert goblets are from a thrift shop. Cost was seventy-one cents each. I have found many uses for them.





Soft browns are pretty in the winter. The seed heads on the right are from a beautiful blue perennial aster. I want to keep them and germinate them. In mass they are a gorgeous sight blooming.





Has anyone else been out gathering like a bird and then rearranging it in your little cottage nest?

Alice in Wonderland Party Planner Art Banner

THE PARTY PLANNER

I'm feeling like a party planner myself. We like fluffing up our nests for parties and Alice wants her party to be fun as well. She has cut a bunny banner to hang. Do you see the woodland evergreen rabbit topiaries in the background. It's been said they come to life for tea parties.

A mixture of papers, paint and graphite pencil were used to make this original mixed media piece. I am offering a print of it on etsy. It is soft and sweet with a dreamy quality about it and the background stirs up more imaginations. Imagination is very healthy when it comes to creating art.

The countdown is on and I wonder if I have enough pieces to sell and all of the other worries people have when they show their art. It definitely makes one pick up the pace from a slow stroll to a mad dash. Yes, I feel like the white rabbit! I have the calendar memorized every day of the week, this week, number and day!

My Friend Hedgehog Who loves Heart Cookies

Are you ready for spring? Bring in Spring. Ring in Spring. Fling in Spring. After a week of being under the weather and snowed in I close my eyes and see all the little spring blossoms looking at their wristwatches wondering, "Is it time yet?"

My new little painting has only a pinch of white in it because everywhere we look it's white. (Come hot summer we use lots of white paint, can't paint cool enough colors.) Our little hedgehog friend's name is Ava. She is a cutie and a great pastry chef! When she takes a walk in the woods everyone comes out of hiding to get a taste of her baked confections.

I used browned colors to make this look a little vintage. The original painting is up for sale on ebay and you can find a print on etsy.
