English Garden Mauve Flowers

All of the summer dainties are coming on now. When I walk outside I can't help but snip a few to enjoy inside. I picked a few perennials that were mauve. Mauve is the color the English love to use in their gardens and it seemed fitting today since it is the Queen of England's birthday. (The Queen also loves beautiful gardens I've read. Me too.)  I was tempted to add some contrasting leaves with them, but the flowers were so tiny, except the clematis which looks like a trumphet compared to the small delicate blossoms of verbena, veronica, catmint, agastache, and spiderwart. They are more like tiny bells. Burlap might be considered a bit unrefined but not so when you sprinkle a bouquet  on it.

I  had a jolt when I was pulling out some grass against the rock wall.  I undercovered a garden snake! Eecckkk! Luckily I didn't pick it up with the handful of weeds...and that pretty much ended my weeding for the time being. Snakes are good for organic gardens but we should be working on different schedules I think. This is one time I was glad that I wasn't down on my hands and knees...it's much harder to get up fast. What grows in your garden? Mauves, pinks and whites? Maybe whites, yellows and blue?

These are beautiful garden colors! Your photo makes me want to get some flowers in these hues. I love how you've arranged them for your beautiful photo.

Haha, you made me laugh. I might just send out a memo to my garden snakes letting them know my schedule :-)

What lovely blooms. I am partial to blues and purples with orange accents. Have a wonderful day!

I'm partial to blues, pinks, and purples, but I use all colors in my garden! I encountered a garden snake the other day too --- I reacted like you did -- no more gardening that day!

My favorite color is purple so I especially like your mauve flowers! A lot of my flowers are purples and reds. Oooh, so glad you didn't get hurt by the snake. It would definitely have ended my day in the garden, too! Popping over from Bloomin' Tuesday and enjoyed my visit.

Oh heck no! Seeing a snake would keep me in the house for about two weeks.

Blue is my favorite color and the more of it I can add to my garden, the better I like it! I encountered a snake this week, also. DH was shoveling mulch into the wagon. I was sitting on the mower, pulling the wagon, and a black snake was suddenly pitched into the wagon with the mulch! I was ready to climb over the mower to get away! But DH picked up the snake with the pitchfork and threw it into the hedge row. Whew! I still get prickles thinking about it! :-} ~~Rhonda
