Woodland Bears Love Berries

The berries are coming on now and the bears (in the woods far away) are loving them too. I know in Montana when our family picks berries they make lots of noise so they don't walk around a bush into a black bear. Aacck! Huckleberries are a favorite there. I love them all and they are rich in antioxidants. Bears know a thing or two about eating organic foods.

I'm offering a print of the illustration of a lightning bug fairy (yes, seen in the woods) giving some of her lightning fire to the wee bear's sticks so they can warm their midnight snack of berry soup.
Hope you've had your share of colorful yummy berries today!

Chalkboard Art

I've been working on some black and white art. Here is a sneak peak of the first one.

Didn't you love chalkboards when you were younger and now they are hot items with messages, poems and drawings! Maybe we loved them because they were spontaneous. To pick up a piece of chalk and draw without deliberation was liberating. If you didn't like the drawing it came off just as easy. I remember looking forward to my turn at helping the teachers clean the boards and they had this one eraser pad that made it look brand new. You see it didn't take much to make me happy.

This print is up on etsy.

Horses and Their Foals Dazzle Us

The pasture is full of life. All legs bouncing, running about and staying very close to Mama when we are near. When the foals are full and tired they lie down and roll on their backs and set back up and nibble on grass like this one. Childhood is great. Foalhood? Is there a term for a foal's baby months?

Westie Pet Portrait and Boy ACEO painting - Summer Woohoo

JUMP FOR SUMMER

Summer is leaping and running with your westie dog. Sir Salty needs a trim as he looks a bit like a beardie or sheepdog (okay, a miniature one). He is always a flutter of activity and runs with his nose high in the air when he is racing us.

I guess he knows he is going to win and he rarely, if ever, looks back.

But if we sit down he always races back to check on us. Like he thinks he will find a bundle of treats that have fell out of our pockets. I think it's because the only time we really sit on the grass is when we are having a picnic or playing with him.

Aceo original painting is available on etsy.

Candylei Girls Horse Art Painting

The warm sunshine stirs up all kinds of things...like these two girls out to pick flowers in the pasture with their horse. I love oil paints and I haven't painted with them in months! Tonight I sat down and expressed my feelings of summer. This was painted alla prima, all in one sitting, with oils and a very big brush so that I don't fret over the little details. It's the feeling I want to portray.

My dad is doing so much better but still has a physical therapist coming regularly. I am home now and there is work staring at me in every room of this house. Outside it is the weeds versus orderly displays of plants and shrubs. Are there enough hours in the day? I've found out it's very hard to weed in the dark.

But there is so much to be happy for........!
